FACING YOUR HEALING CRISIS WITH A SMILE

FACING YOUR HEALING CRISIS WITH A SMILE

Over the next several days, YAH willing, I plan to post a list of herbal remedies that may help you feel and look better. But in talking with my wife the other night, she made a very good point, that maybe I should mention the downside of natural healing for those new to it. After all, when folks start using these natural cures they need to know what to expect. So in the interest of fair and full disclosure let’s talk for a moment about the “healing crisis”.

Just what is a healing crisis anyway you say? Well, let me explain it this way. When you begin giving your body what it needs nutritionally or, if you start heavily purging the built up toxins that are within your body there will be repercussions. Yes the body will indeed respond. I will never forget the time I starting juicing vegetables heavily and drinking herbal teas. I put myself on a vegetable juice fast and incorporated medicinal teas to boot.

Well after a few days I began to notice changes in my body. I had to eliminate much more frequently. That included doing the number one and the number two con brio, if you catch my drift. Anyway, I also began to sweat a lot, and I felt pains in places that I never knew existed. I even became quite nauseated at one point. What in the world is going on, I thought. Then it hit me. This is the healing crisis that natural healers had spoken about. Where you develop flu-like symptoms and your body aches and begins to eliminate toxins through every portal and aperture it can find.

For some that may mean profuse perspiration episodes, diarrhea, vomiting, aches, fever, and pains. For others it may mean that you go through more minor manifestations of these symptoms. The key to remember is that a healing crisis is a natural and necessary process if you are going to get your healing. In fact, if you do not go through some kind of healing crisis it means that the herbs or nutrients you are consuming are not working.

So don’t be afraid when you start your natural healing program that you develop some adverse reactions. They must occur if you are to get better. I recall when I started using nascent iodine, boy oh boy. Nascent iodine will purge all kinds of toxins from your cells including heavy metals and bromine. And it will do so with gusto.

Years of decadent living produce these toxins. By decadent living I mean just eating and living in Mystery Babylon. Think about it. Most of us are eating deadly genetically modified foods. (Note: almost all corn, soybeans, canola oil (rapeseed oil), and wheat processed in America is genetically altered). The water we drink contains chlorine—which is an oxidant. That basically means that it oxidizes or destroys living cells. Drinking water in America also generally contains fluoride. Sodium fluoride is a toxin. It actually causes fluorosis—brittle teeth. In fact, fluoride was used as rat poison in the 1940s and as an anti-depressant. Did you know it is one of the active ingredients in Prozac®? Maybe they are putting it in the water to dumb us all down. If so, it is working. Anyway the point is that over time our bodies accumulate all this junk and this junk eventually makes us sick or it kills us.

Now, vacillating back to nascent iodine, when I began taking that nutrient I noticed some major symptoms.  I began to notice a lot of what appeared to be sinus drainage. It just would not stop. Then my throat began to get very sore as if I was coming down with a cold. I began to get unbelievable congestion in my chest. So I started drinking medicinal teas to flush out the congestion. After about a week I discontinued the iodine and after a few days the sore throat and congestion began to disappear. I started up on the iodine again a few days later and the symptoms reappeared. But I gutted it out and took the iodine for several more days. Lo and behold, once again the symptoms began to disappear, I felt like 10 million dollars.

You know it seemed to me to be the same kind of euphoric feeling you get after running a long distance. I don’t know if you have ever run track or played any major sport. But you know when you first go to training camp and you go through all your drills and do a lot of running. You are sweating, exhausted, and you feel like you are just going to die. But then after practice you go and take a shower and sit around for a while then you begin to notice an aura around you. You begin to feel like you are on some kind of high as your body begins to recover from the workout. That’s one of the greatest feelings in the world to me. That’s the same way I feel after I go through a healing crisis. Like I am walking on water.

So don’t be alarmed as you pass through your healing crisis, as it too shall pass. For more information on the healing crisis in natural medicine, please check out these two good articles below.
